                                            Animal Science

                                            Course Abstract:


    During the first semester, students will be identifying and classifying animals and their contributions to the environment as well as individuals. Students will be exposed to topics such as: The Beef Industry, The Swine Industry, The Dairy Industry, The Sheep Industry, The Poultry Industry, The Horse Industry, The Aquaculture Industry and The Small Animal Industry.
Additional topics will include: Animal Behavior, Animal Genetics, The Scientific Selection of Animals, Animal Reproduction, Animal Growth and Development, Animal Nutrition, Meat Science, Parasites of Agricultural Animals, Animal Diseases, Animal Welfare and Consumer Concerns.
Students will be expected to complete written assignments, participate in group discussions, and complete hands-on learning activities to reinforce these concepts.

                                    Landscaping and Nursery

                                            Course Abstract:


    Students will develop skills as they relate to Landscaping and Nursery Production. First semester topics include: Leadership Development in Agriscience, Supervised Agriscience Experience, Soils and Hydroponics Management, Control of Pest, Plant Reproduction, Turfgrass Use and Management, Plant Structures and Taxonomy, Plant Physiology and Trees and Shrubs.
The second semester will be comprised of: Agribusiness Planning and Entrepreneurship, Winterization of the Landscape, Repairing, Reconditioning, and Sharpening Tools, Bolts and Fasteners-Hand Tools, Small Engine Repair, Career Options and Employability Skills.
Students will be expected to complete written assignments, participate in group discussions, and complete hands-on learning activities to reinforce these concepts.
