Aerospace/Rocketry

    The Introduction to Aerospace class is an evolving course designed to challenge students in the application of scientific concepts learned in required science courses. Students in the class enter the Team America Rocket Challenge which is a national competition involving over 600 school teams from every state in the nation. To date, Countryside has competed in this contest for five of its six years, with respectable results.

    In addition to learning the fundamentals of model rocketry, students study the aviation industry. Building small model aircraft, visiting small and mid-size airports, touring Air Traffic Control Centers, and taking a Young Eagle Flight are some of the activities that appeal most to students.
